ANTWERP, Belgium (AP) — Substitute forward Evanilson scored a hat trick as Porto enjoyed a second-half revival to beat Antwerp 4-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday and further reduce the Belgian club’s hopes of reaching the knockout stage.Antwerp has now lost its three opening matches in Group H. Barcelona tops the standings with a perfect record of three wins and a three-point lead over Porto. Shakhtar Donetsk is in third place with three points.“I never imagined that when I came on, I’d score three goals,” Evanilson said. “It’s incredible, not even in my best dreams. I don’t even know if I’ll sleep tonight.”Antwerp produced a gritty first-half display that was rewarded with a goal from Alhassan Yusuf. But their catastrophic start to the second half was too much to handle as they once again surrendered a lead. Before Evanilson — who came on in the 44th minute — and Stephen Eustaquio turned things round for Porto, the hosts had won most of the duels in a close contest...Universal Health Realty: Q3 Earnings Snapshot

Published Sun, 10 Nov 2024 23:33:26 GMT
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Federal officials said Wednesday that conditions have improved on the Colorado River to the point that a plan by California, Arizona and Nevada to voluntarily reduce water use should help keep the river basin on stable footing for the next few years. The U.S. Department of the Interior said in a statement that the risk of reaching critically low water elevations at Lake Powell and Lake Mead, the river's two key reservoirs, has gone down substantially. Where incomes are growing — and dropping — in Colorado “We have staved off the immediate possibility of the System’s reservoirs from falling to critically low elevations that would threaten water deliveries and power production,” Deputy Secretary Tommy Beaudreau said in a statement. The river serves seven U.S. states, Native American tribes and two states in Mexico, supports a multibillion-dollar farm industry in the West and generates hydropower used across the region. Years of overuse by farms and cities and...Windy and, a wee bit, wet

The windy stretch continues, south Florida. It started back on Monday and has yet to peak. This means more days and nights with gusty conditions as winds arrive off the Atlantic (from the east-northeast). These strong winds have also been responsible for pulling-in a small amount of moisture from the ocean. Coastal areas, especially, have seen a few rain bands moving across the area. They don’t tend to cause any more than a nuisance since they move so quickly and don’t bring much accumulation. Weather changes will be hard to come by, as long as strong high pressure stays north of Florida. If anything, the setup could ease into the weekend. Winds (although still onshore) may tend to subside Sunday. That would make a near week-long wind event for the region! At that point, high pressure will be centered off the southeast coast of the United States, in weaker fashion. We’ll also be watching for the possibility of deeper moisture spinning our way. Pedro Martinez hurled a verbal fastball last October.“They’re not going to have the essence of the franchise that we left, the culture that we left is going to be lost. And we don’t know when we’re going to get it back and how we’re going to get it back,” Martinez warned reporters.“We need to bring back the culture,” the Hall of Famer reiterated at the end of September. In hiring Craig Breslow, the Red Sox signal an attempt to restore that kind of culture, which made Boston the winningest baseball club this century. How fitting that they made the official announcement on Wednesday, Martinez’s birthday.By giving Breslow the keys to the kingdom, the Red Sox are repeating history and hoping to repeat history. For the second hiring cycle in a row, they’ve eschewed leadership experience in favor of upside. Like Chaim Bloom, Breslow will be a first-timer in the driver’s seat; his most recent, highest-ranking position with the Chicago Cubs was assistant general manager and vice president of p...Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith absent from Wednesday’s practice with shoulder injury

Pro Bowl linebacker Roquan Smith was absent from practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury as the Ravens began preparations to play the Arizona Cardinals.Coach John Harbaugh declined to comment on Smith’s status, deferring to the injury report. “No, he just wasn’t out there,” he said after practice.Smith leads the Ravens with 71 tackles and has emerged as the vocal leader of a defense that has allowed the fewest points and second fewest yards in the league.Safety Marcus Williams (hamstring) and running back Keaton Mitchell (hamstring) were the only other Ravens who did not practice Wednesday. Cornerback Kevon Seymour (ankle) was limited, while wide receiver Tylan Wallace (hamstring) was a full participant after being designated to return from injured reserve.Outside linebacker Tyus Bowser, who remains on the non-football injury list with what Harbaugh described in August as an agitated knee, declined to speak with several reporters who approached to ask about...Latest news
