2 men found dead in room of shuttered Waukgean hotel; names released

WAUKEGAN, Ill. — A death investigation is underway after two people were found shot inside a room in the former Ramada Inn hotel in Waukegan. The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 30-year-old Jamir Johnson, formerly of Gurnee and 59-year-old David Miller, formerly of Lindenhurst. Preliminary autopsy results indicate both Johnson and Miller suffered multiple gunshot wounds.Around 9:50 p.m. Friday, Waukegan police responded to the 200 block of North Green Bay Road, the site of the abandoned hotel. CHICAGO — The Transportation Security Administration has confiscated a record number of firearms at Chicago's Midway International Airport.The latest gun found in a carry-on bag was found on Friday. CHICAGO -- The University of Illinois Chicago Health hosted Halloween festivities for patients and their families Tuesday.Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit patients were joined by their loved ones on Tuesday to enjoy a Halloween parade that lead to a party. JOLIET, Ill. — Joliet has a new City Manager and her selection is making history.Terry D’Arcy, the Mayor of Joliet, announced Tuesday that Beth Beatty has been selected as Joliet's new City Manager. According to the mayor, Beatty is the first woman to serve in the role in the city's history. CHICAGO — Police say two people were killed and four others were injured in a crash along Lake Shore Drive on Monday evening.According to police, the two-vehicle crash happened just before 8:50 p.m. in the 3000 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive.Officers say a man was driving southbound along Lake Shore Drive in a Nissan sedan, with three women sitting as passengers, when his vehicle was hit by a Chevy sedan, with one passenger inside, as the driver was changing lanes. Driver killed after crashing into utility pole, home in Palatine Police say the crash caused the driver of the Nissan to strike a tree along the side of the road. According to police, the driver and a female passenger were both pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital. MATTESON, Ill. — A 34-year-old Hammond man is charged in connection with the deadly shooting of two people from Chicago in south suburban Matteson.Kephren Ferguson is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder following the events of Oct. 26. Just before 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call in the 4100 block of Lindenwood Drive. 2 arrested following armed robbery of mail carrier in Harvey Arriving officers found a 20-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy with gunshot wounds to the head. The 16-year-old boy also suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.Both were rushed to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, where they were pronounced dead.Detectives conclude the shooting was the result of a fight between two female roommates, one of whom was Ferguson's alleged girlfriend.
