Residents of a Northeast D.C. neighborhood woke up to an unexpected visitor Friday morning — a large black bear who had climbed up a tree and decided to hang out for a while.D.C. police were on the scene about 7:30 a.m. Friday morning and posted pictures of the bear settled in the crook of a tree on Franklin Street near 13th Street.Police closed off some streets and DC Animal Care and Control also responded to the scene.About 9:45 a.m. live video from WTOP’s partners 7News showed the bear scaling down the street and disappearing into a backyard. CAIRO (AP) — The Sudanese government announced that the U.N. envoy to the country and key mediator in its brutal conflict is no longer welcome as the warring sides in the African nation agreed to a new, 24-hour cease-fire.Sudan’s Foreign Ministry issued a terse statement late Thursday, weeks after the military chief, Gen. Abdel Fattah Burhan, demanded in a letter that envoy Volker Perthes be removed from his post. The ministry said U.N. DENVER (KDVR) — A group of Aurora teachers are rallying around the family of a teen who was killed by police during an alleged armed robbery. Jor'dell Richardson, 14, was shot and killed by Aurora Police on June 1 after they responded to an armed robbery at a vape store near 8th Avenue and Dayton Street. Interim Police Chief Art Acevedo said Richardson had a semiautomatic pistol when he threatened the store clerk.At least two others were taken into custody in the incident.
